IRONWORKERS PCL ENERGY - Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta (Job Number: 216492)

PCL Energy requires Ironworkers at a Journeyperson level for an Industrial project located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, up to 12 months duration with an immediate start. Apprentices also required.




Duties & Responsibilities


  • Read blueprints and specifications to lay out the work
  • Unload and stack steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed
  • Assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, hooks) to move heavy equipment and materials
  • Attach cables from a crane or direct crane operators with hand signals or radios
  • Position steel units, align holes and insert temporary bolts
  • Check the alignments and join steel parts by bolting or tack welding them with an electric arc process
  • Assemble and erect pre-fabricated metal structures
  • Install structural metalwork such as curtain walls, metal stairways, railings and power doors

Skills & Qualifications


  • Excellent communication skills
  • Safety conscious attitude
  • CSTS 09 (can be provided)
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Fall protection (can be provided)
  • Elevated work platform (can be provided)
  • A negative Drug & Alcohol test
  • Physical strength, stamina and ability to use proper lifting techniques
  • Other qualifications may be required
  • Bend, stretch, lift, push, pull and carry
  • Able to work at heights, agility and balance on platforms, beams, scaffolds and decks
  • Able to work alone, and collaborate as part of a team
  • Display good verbal and written communication skills when working with other employees
  • Hardworking and able to readily accept and apply direction from a supervisor

  • Must be able to work outside in various types of weather conditions

  • 10 hours per day: 8 hours regular time and 2 hours overtime per day
