Building Operator /HVAC Maintenance Technician

Located downtown Toronto, the Maintenance Technician HVAC responds to our resident’s service needs and is instrumental in helping EDFS deliver superior customer service to facility residents. This includes quality move-ins, residential satisfaction, expedited service, and personal attention to the resident.


You, as a Maintenance Technician HVAC will:


  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance and inspections as needed for the purpose of ensuring the ongoing functioning of HVAC systems as well as installs heating and air conditioning equipment and systems for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded capabilities
  • Prepare written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information
  • Respond to resident requests in a timely manner and with a professional and upbeat attitude
  • Repair heating and air conditioning systems and/or components (e.g. pumps, motors, air handlers, fan coils, piping, etc.)
  • Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety
  • Perform on-call emergency procedures as required or as scheduled by your manager
  • Be knowledgeable of provincial, local, and federal housing laws, codes, policies, and systems regarding maintenance
  • Attend and participate in training programs as required by EDFS and local city and provincial jurisdictions
  • Provide superior customer service and represent the company in a professional manner at all times. Consistently maintain a professional, courteous attitude when dealing with residents, coworkers, and the general public
  • Maintain and safeguard all company tools and equipment
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned

 Is this the right role for you?


  • Refrigeration Certificate and 3-5 years of relevant experience in refrigeration/air conditioning maintenance
  • Strong computer skills for diagnosis and reference
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with others as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner Must be able to work any shift Sunday-Saturday to support the company's business needs
  • You have the ability to gather information, accurately assess issues, seek support and take direction as necessary
  • You are a team player and have experience in performance based service delivery and have strong customer service
  • You have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and quickly develop working relationships with a broad range of individuals, both internally and externally
  • You possess a valid driver’s license
