Apprentice Carpenter

Reporting to the Foreman, the Apprentice Carpenter assumes responsibility for all general carpentry duties required on commercial scope construction projects.  They will ensure work tasks are performed safely in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and company policies and that work is performed with a high level of quality and timeliness.

This position is based in the Edmonton, AB area on a client site. 


Working Conditions

  • 44 hour work week (a 9 hour shift Monday through Thursday and an 8 hour shift on Friday)
  • Overtime as required
  • Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
  • Working in and around noise and dust



  • Assist with heating/hoarding, temporary fencing, guardrails, handrails, barriers and wood backing as required.
  • Assist with prepare, erect and remove structural framework for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams and shafts.
  • Assist with set and strip/remove forms.
  • Operate hand tools, power actuated tools as required to perform tasks including inspection.
  • Participate in weekly safety meetings and daily tool box talks.
  • Advise supervision of unsafe conditions or acts that may be a hazard or danger to self and other workers.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean and free of hazards.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are returned to job boxes and tool cribs.
  • Report all incidents, “near miss” incidents including damages/non-damages, injury/non-injury incidents.
  • Review and participate in the preparation of safe work practices/procedures as required.
  • Other tasks and labor duties as required on the jobsite.


  • Registered Carpenter Apprentice
  • Valid Fall protection, CSTS-0.9, WHMIS, and First Aid an asset
  • Ability to take direction and follow through on instructions
  • General construction safety knowledge

Physical Requirements


  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 25kg
  • Climbing stairs/ladders regularly
  • Exposure to hazards such as heights, power tools, slips, falls, falling objects, and sharp hand tools
